Ministerial Imbizo Comes to Sekhukhune

Minister in The Presidency, Dr Essop Pahad, will lead a community Imbizo in Greater Sekhukhune next week.

The Imbizo will take place at Tshehlwaneng village, Makhuduthamaga, on Saturday, 12 April 2008.

Minister Pahad’s delegation will comprise various Cabinet ministers, Limpopo premier Sello Moloto, members of the executive council and senior government officials.

During the Imbizo, residents of Tshehlwaneng and neighbouring villages will be informed of progress that government has made in addressing their concerns raised during President Thabo Mbeki’s visit to the Greater Sekhukhune District Municipality (GSDM) in 2005.

Residents will also be afforded an opportunity to raise concerns and comment on general issues relating to the quality and pace of service delivery in their communities.

This will be an opportunity for residents to hold the three spheres of government accountable, and influence governance and service delivery.

Discussions during the Imbizo are also expected to highlight particular problems that require attention, bottlenecks in implementing government programmes or policy areas that may require review.

Minister Pahad and his entourage will also visit some community development projects to assess their impact on the lives of the community members.

Through this visit, the minister expects that government leaders will gain first-hand experience of the challenges faced by the community and identify solutions that the residents think could solve their problems.
