WELCOME to the second edition of Sekhukhune This Week
We hope you are moving
along with us in our
vision to get you the
most recent
and accurate government
news in our district.
This is your resource.
As you will see from our
stories and media
releases in this
website, Greater
Sekhukhune District
Municipality (GSDM) has
big plans and is trying
its best to
bring development in
this poverty-stricken
district.
It is however with great
sadness and
disappointment that we
witness our
efforts being undermined
by criminals in our
midst.
Water is undoubtedly the
most basic service
needed for household use
and
economic development,
but as you might have
noted from our executive
mayor
Cllr Namane Masemola’s
State of the District
Address (Soda) last
week, criminals
are sabotaging
our plans
to provide water to our
communities by stealing
water pumps.
This may sound like a
scene from a movie, but
it is happening in real
life.
We are imploring members
of our communities to
co-operate with us and
report
this
theft to the
police.
On a positive note, the
meeting around the
establishment of
hydro-electricity
power station did take
place this week (see
story and media
release).
Once completed, this
development will go a
long way in providing
another basic service
–
electricity – to our
rural households.
Plans to establish the
Sekhukhune Development
Agency (Seda) are also
going well.
This will be the vehicle
to drive economic growth
in the district, and
enable us to achieve
goals set out in our
2025 Growth and
Development Strategy.
Till next week. |
