R50-million allocated for logistics hub

PLANS to construct a logistics hub in Greater Sekhukhune will gain momentum in the beginning of the 2008/09 financial year.

The logistics hub will see the district municipality moving offices from Groblersdal to Jane Furse, and all other district components of provincial government that are responsible for Sekhukhune will also relocate to the planned government complex.

Presently, the provincial government offices are situated in Capricorn District Municipality in Lebowakgomo.

Greater Sekhukhune District Municipality (GSDM) executive mayor Cllr Namane Masemola said R50-million has been allocated for the construction of the municipal offices.

“Already, agreements have been reached with the Traditional Authority regarding the availability of site for this work to start,” Masemola said.

“We will be interacting with them to finalise the actual site and therefore surveying should start immediately to scope the project area,” he added.

The project is part of the 2025 District Development Strategy and the Provincial Growth and Development Strategy.

Masemola said he was confident that this project would stimulate economic development around Jane Furse and provide opportunities during construction and even after completion.
